Pretzel Crisps

Appears Clean

My older son has been eating these for a while.  They're great to serve at parties.  Now here's something I didn't know! These have corn syrup!

I have an older bag of these and it just lists malt syrup in the ingredients.  So it looks like they just changed the labeling recently because I got the below ingredient list off of their web site.  Also note how they told me their malt syrup contains corn grits but their web site shows "corn syrup."  Interesting.

Now I know that malt syrup is just one more possible name for corn syrup.  But, otherwise these appear to be clean.  We just choose to avoid corn syrup.

We'll be sticking with the Utz pretzels from Sam's Club.  Right now they have a big container of Christmas shaped pretzels.  At Halloween, they had individual bags in a big container.  These are only out seasonally though so we will be stocking up now.

Company Response

We appreciate you taking the time to email us regarding our Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps®.

Our products contain malt syrup which is made from malted barley and corn grits.

I then asked her again if the pretzels contained any artificials or preservatives as she kind of avoided my question and this was her answer:

We do use an oil with BHT for another product we manufacture at our plant. But none of the preservatives listed below are in our product. If there were it would be listed. I hope that helps.

So, it looks like these particular pretzels are clean based on their response.  They have a large variety of flavors.  We only use these.  From their response, it looks like if they do use BHT, they will list it on their ingredients.

Ingredients

Wheat Flour, Sugar, Salt, Malt Syrup (Corn Syrup, Malt Extract).

Where to Buy

We get the big bags of these at Sam's Club.  Costco may have them too.  Otherwise, Whole Foods has them too or you can order online from www.amazon.com
